JOSEPH EMERY KRIER February 21, 1908 - May 24, 2003 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed and often remembered by his wife Ruth (Bowler) his daughter Elizabeth; and son-in-law Arthur Wakin; grandchildren, Lorinda Lacey (Brian), Darren Wakin (Krista), Kary McCorrie (Cameron), Tammy Martin (Cristofre) great-grandchildren, Stuart, Connor and Holly-Lyn McCorrie, Branden Lacey, Alexander, Sidney Wakin (and their mother Bridgette Dell) and Jamie Wakin; as well as stepgreat-grandson Jonathan Perron. Also nieces and nephews, Manfred, Dietmar and Wolfgang Hubert and Barbara Kern of Germany. Joseph was predeceased by sisters, Ann and Elizabeth; and great-granddaughter Madisson Dell-Wakin. Joseph immigrated to Canada at the age of 20. He worked as a farmhand in Manitoba and Saskatchewan during the depression, after which he worked as a carpenter tradesman. During this time he met and married Ruth, his wife of 63 years. Following the birth of his daughter, he joined the Canadian navy as a shipwright in Halifax from 1943 to 1945. After the war he continued working in his trade as a subcontractor building homes. Joseph retired in 1979 and moved from Winnipeg to Tyndall, MB into a home he built and resided with Ruth until present. The family would like to give heart felt thanks to the many friends and neighbours for their help and kindness, especially Margaret and Roger Dube and home care staff, Barbara and Madeline. Thank you also to the nursing staff at Beausejour District Hospital for the care and comfort given to Joseph during his last days. The memorial service and interment will take place Thursday, May 29, at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers and respect for Grandpas love of animals, especially his cat and friend of 12 years, Simba, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
