DMYTRO STETZ It is with deep sadness that the family of Dmytro Stetz announces his passing on Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli, MB. Metro will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Frances, his daughter Valerie (Gordon) Klym, grandsons, Ryan and Kevin; his sister Annie Donkin of Gimli; brother Mike (Mary) of Stonewall; brother Alex (Rose) of Beausejour; sister-in-law Stephie Stetz of Riverton; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He was born October 22, 1919 at Ledwyn, MB and resided there for most of his life. Metro served in the Canadian Army, with the P.P.C.L.I. during the Second World War. On June 24, 1950 he married Frances Prysazniuk and together they farmed at Ledwyn. Although farming was his main occupation for many years, he also worked at various locations in the carpentry and logging industries. In 1971, Metro became a school bus driver of 13 years for Evergreen School Division No. 22. In addition to his regular bus route, he devoted much extra time and effort to transporting students for athletic programs and class field trips. He was a favourite bus driver and made many lasting friendships during this time. Metro fondly recalled these years as some of his best. His retirement was spent on the family farm, helping out with the grain farm operation, gardening and doing yard work. Throughout this time "Gigi" also greatly enjoyed the company of his two grandsons, whom he adored. He took special pleasure in attending their school functions and especially their minor hockey league games. He was one of their biggest fans. Active pallbearers will be Robert Kozub, Don Stoyanowski, Randy Buchko, Darryl Smolinski, Tom Chwaliboga and Gerret Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Kris Johannesson and Gordon Leduchowski.
