Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLORNE STANLEY STEWART On Saturday, June 21, 2003 in Ottawa, ON surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer at age 49. Lorne is survived by his two children, Angela and Justin; their mother Deborah; loving wife Beverley; and stepson Alex. Also survived by his father Jack (Jane), sister Joanne and her family, and other family and many friends. Lorne was predeceased by his mother Lorna (nee Wurch) and Granny Hertha Wurch. Lorne was born in Flin Flon, MB. At 17 he joined the Canadian Navy and proudly served for 25 years in Halifax, NS, Aldergrove, BC and Ottawa, in addition to many years at sea. He was employed by the Department of National Defence at the time of his death. Lorne was president of the Ottawa Chapter of the OPFA (One Parent Family Association) for two years and made many wonderful friends through the organization. LorneĆs gentle way and keen sense of humour was loved and will be missed by all. Friends may visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Rd. at the Aviation Parkway, Ottawa, on Monday, June 23, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation with private interment, National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces, Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, 503 Smyth Rd., Ottawa, ON, K1H 9Z9, would be appreciated by the family.
