MANUEL ROCHA It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Manuel Rocha, at 68 years of age on July 4, 2003 at the Health Sciences Centre due to complications from Alzheimers. Manuel was born on April 4, 1935 in Lindoso, Ponte da Barca, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1969. He will be lovingly remembered and much missed by his wife of 45 years Elza; two children, Helena (Joaquim) and Jose (Florinda) grandchildren, Helder, Maria de Fatima, Nelson, Sergio, Daniel, Fatima Lourdes; brother Arnaldo and family and by countless friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Cesario and Angelina and by his oldest brother also known by the name of Arnaldo. Manuel took a lot of pride in his Portuguese culture. He was once a director and member very involved with the Portuguese Association and Casa do Minho. Because of his love of hunting he was the first to organize the first Tiro Ao Pombo and many fishing derbies for the Portuguese Association of Manitoba. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, until the end they put a smile on his face. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. with Rev. Fr. Jose Eduardo Medeiros officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the Health Sciences Centre for their loving care and compassion. Special thanks to Cindy Dudar, Sherel Noble, Lynsie and the other nursing staff. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
