Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM ALVIN ROBERTS March 15, 1918 - July 17, 2003 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, William (Bill) Alvin Roberts passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at the Grace General Hospital. Bill is survived by his daughter-in-law Clarissa Roberts; granddaughters, Tara Dawn and Rana Dyan; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Emma E. Roberts (nee Holtz), daughter Penny (Joan Clare) Roberts, and his son Ted (Richard Edward) Roberts. On March 15, 1918, Bill was born in Winnipeg, where he lived his entire life. After serving with the Winnipeg Grenadiers in the Second World War, Bill returned to Winnipeg to work for Sanford Evans until his retirement. After his retirement, Bill enjoyed assisting his son with the day-to-day running of Queen Street Texaco/Esso. It was there he earned the nickname "The Prez" from the staff. In addition, Bill had a great love of music and could often be found playing the piano or organ for anyone who would listen. He took great pride in playing for the "seniors" at Deer Lodge Centre and Middlechurch Nursing Home. In compliance with Bills wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Thanks are extended to all of the nurses, health care workers and doctors who gave Bill such excellent care at the Grace General Hospital. Also, special thanks to all of his homecare workers, who looked after him with such care and compassion prior to his death. Heartfelt thanks are given to Cindy. Bill appreciated the extra time and attention that she shared in her many visits. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Bills memory to the Society for Manitobans with Disabilities, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1M5, or to a charity of ones choice.
