LUCIEN LAHAIE Peacefully, on Monday, September 8, 2003, at the Ste. Rose General Hospital, Lucien Lahaie passed away at the age of 81 years. Lucien was born on August 18, 1922, at Ste. Amelie, MB. Following his education, he joined the armed forces and served in the R.C.A.M.C. in the 4th Canadian Armored Division and served in Europe for three years during the Second World War. Upon his return, he joined United Grain Growers as a casual worker in 1951. Lucien was appointed manager of the elevator in Domremy, SK in 1953. He then transferred to Ste. Rose du Lac in 1957 where he was manager of elevator #1 until it burned in 1962. Lucien then managed elevator #2 until his retirement in 1985. Lucien married Cecile Guyot in 1960 and their daughter Aline was born in 1964. Lucien was a member of the U.G.G. Million Bushel Club and the Quarter Century Club. He was a faithful member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #232, having joined in 1952. Lucien was a quiet man who was a good listener. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be sadly missed. Lucien was predeceased by his wife Cecile on April 20, 2003; his parents, Edouard and Roseanna and several brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Aline Lahaie Rioux and husband Rheal of Winnipeg; his sister Berthe and husband Emile Lepine of Ste. Rose du Lac; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Prayers were offered on Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m. from the Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel. Funeral service was held on Friday, September 12 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Father Paul Tinguely officiated with the interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion #232, Ste. Rose du Lac formed the honor guard. Active pallbearers were Marlene Denys, Gerald Guyot, Jeannette Lussier, Joanne Haun, Jeanne Jacob and Genevieve Haun. Should friends so desire, memorial donations in memory of Lucien may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to Palliative Care in care of the Prevost Foundation at the Ste. Rose General Hospital. Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel, Ste. Rose du Lac, MB in care of arrangements. (204) 447-2444.
