Growing up on Best Street, Jay was my best friend from birth. As much of my memories of being a toddler until up to Grade 3 when we moved, I had many memorable times at the Howarths. Brother Scott was a few years older and almost a mythic individual working in sound engineering at CKY. I remember one trip with Jay and his dad going to Lockport for a trip and a bit of fishing. On the way back home on the highway in their station wagon, Jay and I sat in a seat that was reversed to look out the opening back window. We unspooled our rods so the hooks would spark against the pavement as we drove, believing we had fooled Jim as to what we were up to. But undoubtedly, he was fully aware but was not going to be the one to spoil some young kids’ innocent fun. - Posted by: Grant Vetters (Family friend) on: May 19, 2022
