VICTOR R. PUCCI Mr. Victor R. Pucci passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the Queens Medical Centre in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was born in Winnipeg on January 26, 1923. Victor is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vera (Caputo) daughter Barbara (Al) stepgranddaughter Darcie of Oslo, Norway; son Ernie (Liz) grandson Anthony of Calgary, AB; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ernest, mother Barbara; brothers, Johnny and Albert; sisters, Lenore and Rose. Vics parents immigrated to Canada form Cosenza in the region of Calabria, Italy, in the late 1890s and settled in Winnipeg. They opened one of the first liquor stores in Winnipeg which was located near the corner of York and Main. They also opened a family restaurant on the corner of Isabel and Notre Dame. Vic attended St. Edwards Elementary and Junior High schools. He later went on to attend St. Pauls High School. For many years, he continued to support St. Pauls High School as well as attending many alumnae functions. After high school, Vic joined the Canadian Navy where he served as a seaman aboard the Destroyer MS Montreal during the Second World War. Post war, he returned to Winnipeg where he took on a career in Plastering and Stucco. He went on to establish V. Pucci Plastering, a specialized trade, from 1947 to 1987. Vic retired to enjoy the game he loved which was "Golf." He truly respected the game for what it was "a game." He loved fishing, gardening and travelling (around the world). His computer was also a very important part of what he treasured. Vic and Vera relocated to Calgary in 1999. Vic loved to make people laugh and was loved by all who he touched. He was an extremely kind, honest and hard-working individual. We wish to thank Mr. Jerome Andrade from Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea St., Honolulu, Hawaii, for his assistance and guidance with funeral arrangements. A funeral service will be held at the Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. in Winnipeg on Thursday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate Vics life. Father Sam Argenziano will officiate. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, in Vics memory. Papa, we all think you are "Fantastic"!
