MARION AMY FIDLER (MCMILLAN)
Date of Passing: Feb 26, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION AMY FIDLER (nee MCMILLAN) Tonight there is a new bright and bold star shining in the sky...we will call it Marion. Mom has left us here to go to another place where she can be free. After a courageous fight to the end, on Thursday, February 26, 2004, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Mom passed away at the age of 75 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her three children and their families: son Ken (Jacquie) their children, David and Lesley Stewart (Michael) son Garry (Vicki) their children, Kelsi and Jordan; daughter Penny (Jeff Coleman) and her son Adam. Marion was predeceased by her husband Ray and her parents, Duncan and Amy McMillan. Mom spent most of her younger life living in North Kildonan, but most of her married life living and working in St. James. She spent many years working at Loblaws and made many friends during that time. She retired early from work outside the home to care for her husband Ray, a Hong Kong veteran, until his passing in 1986. One of Moms greatest pleasures was going for drives. Marion loved her times at White Lake and the trips we all had with her to Las Vegas. There were also many road trips with her special friends Elna and Hazel. Mom and Dad spent many afternoons at Norris Lake or on the banks of the river fishing. We never saw any fish, but they enjoyed passing the time. Marion also enjoyed many winter holidays with her cousin Art and Babs Brockhill. She was always on the go and usually at full throttle. One of Moms highlights in life was making a special trip to Oakville for her granddaughter Lesleys wedding in 2001. As a family, we celebrated Moms 75th birthday in 2003 and in December we gathered as a family to celebrate Christmas. In keeping with Marions wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. We would like to offer a special thank you to the staff on the 8th floor of the St. Boniface General Hospital, the palliative care and home care workers. You were a great support to Marion and to all of us. We would also like to send a special thank you to the medical staff at HSC CancerCare and the Grace Hospital and Hospice. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Marions memory may be made to St. Boniface General Hospital 8A, Palliative Care Unit, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6, Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7, Childrens Wish Foundation, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2.
