QUENTIN POWELL 1921 - 2004 Quentin Cole Powell passed away at Pioneer Ridge, Thunder Bay, on March 9, 2004. He was born in Winnipeg on August 24, 1921. He attended school there and at Queens University until he joined the RCAF in 1941, serving as a flying instructor until the fall of 1945. Quentin then joined the Port Arthur branch of Powell Equipment, his fathers firm, as a salesman and later became general manager. He moved to the head office in Winnipeg in 1967 where he served as vice-president and treasurer. He was also a Director of Guaranty Trust. He returned to Thunder Bay in 1974 as general manager for Northwestern Ontario, a position he occupied until his retirement. He was past Master of Thunder Bay Masonic Lodge No. 618, a member of Trinity Church and was also a life member of the Portage Country Club, the Highwater Hunt Club and the Thunder Bay Country Club. Quentin worked as a volunteer for various charities and headed up the United Appeal when it was called the Community Chest. He is survived by his wife Marin of 61 years of marriage and by his daughter Pamela (David) Slaughter or Toronto, and his two sons, Stephen (Karyn) of Sarasota and Eric (Dawn) in Thunder Bay, also by his two beloved grandchildren, Gillian and Graham Slaughter. Quentin was predeceased by his sisters, Elaine Andison and Margaret Webster; his elder brother Gary and by his mother and father. Donations in his name to the Alzheimer Society would be deeply appreciated. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church at 11:00 a.m. on March 12.
