JAMES FINLEY After a short but bravely fought battle with cancer, Jim passed away in Abbotsford, BC. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years Merleen; son David (Nancy) Finley; grandchildren, Meaghan (Ed) Travale, Matthew and Patrick; son Laurie (Jan) Finley; grandchildren, Darcy, Scott and step grandson Casey; daughter Kerry (Chris) Poot; grandchildren, Adelle and Jason. Jim was born and raised in Brandon, MB moving to Winnipeg with Merleen where they raised their family. Jim was a member of Riverview United Church where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Jim worked in the insurance industry in Winnipeg for years before he and Merleen moved to British Columbia where they retired. Jim was a member of the Fort Garry Legion Branch 90 and had served as Secretary Treasurer on the executive. Jim made many friends curling with the Legion and other leagues and enjoyed the game along with golf in the summer months. Jim and Merleen also bowled for many years at Empress Lanes again making many friends. Jim will always be remembered for his sense of humour and easy going attitude. Cremation in Abbotsford has taken place and a Memorial service will be held in Winnipeg on Friday, April 16 at Meadowood United Church, 1111 Dakota St. The service will be at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception at the Fort Garry Legion, Branch 90. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
