RUTH MARIA GESSELL (nee HEARD) After a brief illness, our dear beloved mother passed away on June 18, 2004. She will be sadly missed but always remembered by her loving sons, Robert (Derrick), Richard (Carol) and dear friend Liz Henson. She is also survived by her sister Shirley of Vancouver, BC; brother and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel (July 2003) and sister Marion. Ruth was born in Winnipeg on December 30, 1924 and raised in the Elmwood area. In January 2004, Ruth moved into the Portsmouth Retirement Home where she made many new friends in her short stay there. Mom was a devoted wife, mother and friend, always cherishing the times she could spend with her family and friends. Mom Your memory is our keepsake From which we will never part God has you in his keeping We have you in our hearts. At her request, cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held with Chaplains Capt. Brad Busch and Lt. (N) Lenora Grauer officiating. Our family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to the medical staff of the St. Boniface Hospital and as well, the residents and staff of the Portsmouth Retirement Home for being there for our dear mother when she needed you the most.
