Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRANT WAYNE SMITH It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our brother, uncle and great-uncle on September 28, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. He leaves to mourn his brother Ray (Nicole) nephew Ryan (Carol) Smith; niece Tara (Scott) Nielsen and great-nephew and niece, Devin and Taylor Smith. Grant was predeceased by his parents, Violet and Alfred Smith. Grant was born in Teulon on September 4, 1938 and raised on the family farm on the Greenwood Road. Grant became an electrician and in the early 1960s went to British Columbia where his good friend Hartley Florence resides. In the late 1960s and 1970s, Grant became interested in lumberjack competitions winning many trophies in speed climbing, log rolling, obstacle pole bucking and chokermans races in Canada and the U.S.A. Grant returned to the family farm in Gunton in the early 1980s when his father became ill. In the early 1990s he returned to his cabin in Duncan, BC for the winter months and came home during the summer months to help his brother with harvest season. Grant had a great love for motorcycles. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV, football being his favourite. When residing in Manitoba he enjoyed curling. Grants family would like to thank the staff at Teulon Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre for their care and compassion. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Teulon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital Foundation.
