Date of Passing: Oct 05, 2004
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM NORMAN STEER (BILL) After a lengthy illness, Bill passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife Edith, numerous relatives and friends spread throughout Canada. Bill was a loving and giving husband to "Edie". He possessed a rare gift that earned the trust and admiration of many children. These children grew up to be respectful and responsible adults who are better for having known him. Bill had a twinkle in his eye and a happy smile for everyone and always made you feel you were important. Bill also had a mischievous side that landed him in trouble on more than one occasion. If you needed help, no matter what time of the day or night, he was there. Bill spent six years with the Armed Forces overseas and upon returning to Winnipeg, his working career included employment at Millers Sheet Metal, Frigidaire and the Winnipeg School Board. He had a happy and lengthy retirement with Edith always at his side. They went on trips abroad and across Canada. Bill survived two heart attacks and a stroke along with two bouts of pneumonia which finally led to his demise. A special thank you to the nurses and staff of Middlechurch Home B Wing for their care and support for both Bill and Edith. Cremation has taken place at Bills request and a memorial service to celebrate Bills life will be held at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, 280 Balderstone Rd., West St. Paul, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12. Rev. Earl M. Gould will officiate. In lieu flowers, a donation may be made in Bills memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
