STEFANIA (STELLA) CHORNEY 1910 - 2004 It is with deep sorrow the family announces the passing of our much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Victoria General Hospital. Mom was born May 29, 1910 in Cello Leshniev, Western Ukraine. She travelled alone to Canada in 1927 at the young age of 17. In Winnipeg she met and married Josaphat Chorney in 1933. She was a member of Workers Benevolent Association and of the Association of United Ukrainian Canadian Seniors Club. Mom was predeceased by her husband Josaphat in 1980 and beloved son Zane Chorney of Surrey, BC in 1997. Left, with loving memories to cherish are daughter Sonja and husband Alan Ingram; granddaughters, Lori and husband Garth Jackman, Alison and husband Edwin Malenchak of Fisher Branch, MB, Noelle and husband Hans Rawlins of Surrey, BC, Nicole Chorney of Surrey, BC; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Lindsay Jackman, Aynsley Malenchak of Fisher Branch, Savannah and Sterling Rawlins, of Surrey, BC, Rosemary Chorney, widow of Zane Chorney. At Moms request, cremation and a private family interment has taken place at Brookside Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot, Winnipeg, MB. We take comfort in the fact that she is now at peace and are eternally grateful for all the love and memories she leaves in our hearts.
