JAMES STEPHEN SMEGAL In loving memory of James Stephen Smegal who passed away on December 11, 2004 at Vermilion Bay, ON. James Stephen Smegal was born in the Stonewall area of Manitoba on July 4, 1930. He moved to Northwestern Ontario approximately 25 years ago. He loved working in his woodworking shop, travelling with the dogs and spending time at his cabin on Eagle Lake. He enjoyed many summer barbecues there with his family and close friends. James was a avid curler, and was a very good player. He was well known for his performance. He curled in Winnipeg and then later Dryden and Vermilion Bay area. He was was affectionately known as Mr Big to his teammates. He is survived by Joy, his loving wife of 52 years; his son Rick Smegal of BC; his daughter Tracy Wood (Brent) of Vermilion Bay; and family in the Winnipeg area. At Mr. Smegal's request, there will be No Visitation or Funeral Service. Cremation has already taken place. A private memorial service and interment of ashes will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Machin Medical Clinic through the Dryden Community Funeral Home, 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.
