WALTER ALFRED PILCHAR August 8, 1920 - December 16, 2004 Walter passed away on December 16, 2004 at Lions Manor Personal Care Centre. Born in Reston, Manitoba, he grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Anne and Joe Pilchar. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Mary; three children, Jack (Marg) Pilchar, Maureen (Lorne) Downie and Shirley Millar; five grandchildren, Clair Brent Pilchar, Steven Downie, Rob and Diana Millar; and six sisters. Walter served under operation CANLOAN, officers on loan to the British Army, during the Second World War. He later was a member of the Winnipeg Grenadiers. His career choice was in furniture manufacturing and design. He retired in 1984. For many years he and his family enjoyed summers at Star Lake in the Whiteshell and upon retirement he enjoyed many winters in the south as well as in British Columbia. Special thanks go out to the 3rd floor staff at Lions Personal Care Centre. A private family gathering will take place.
