DAVE KRYGER A bright light that lit the lives of many has been dimmed but not extinguished, and it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dave Kryger. After a long and unrelenting battle with cancer our husband, father and Zaidy can finally rest. Sadly missed by his wife Doreen of 41 years; his children, Ron and Laura Kryger with their children, Joel, Joshua and Julia, Tamar and Gary Weiss with their children, Aerielle, Jeremy and Leia, Deanna Kot and her son Daniel and Jeff Kryger; sister Rose and Ami Margovski with their children, Ofer Margovski and his son Jared and Kinneret Margovski, Yaffa and Neil Bryan with Sean Medoff; and Dave's mother Rivkah Zuzel. Dave was a survivor of the Second World War and chose to serve again in the Israeli Army where he witnessed destruction and reconstruction. He left it all in 1960 to find a better life and found himself in a free country with nothing but the shirt on his back and in a cold place called Winnipeg where he knew no one and could not speak or understand the language. After 44 years here, Dave was able to start an automotive service business that he was able to watch grow from the ground up and then passed the torch on to the next generation. He raised a beautiful family, and with great zeal enjoyed every waking moment with his family and then his grandchildren. Dave played as hard as he worked and was not afraid to try new things. At the age of 65 Dave woke up and decided to run the full Manitoba Marathon, so he did and he finished in recorded time - but that was the kind of man he was, afraid of nothing and achieve the impossible was his game. Dave and his wife retired in Kelowna, BC, where they could finally do all the outdoor activities they so enjoyed with a list too long to mention. Our father would not want anyone to feel sorry, but rather to celebrate his life and keep the bright fire of his memory burning. We would also like to thank all the help and effort of those at the Kelowna General Hospital, their excellent Cancer Care facility as well as the Cottonwood Institute for making Dad's last race as comfortable as possible. We love you, Daddy and Zaidy. Be comforted that you left behind a food name and a legacy that can't be silenced. You live on in all our hearts and we know that you watch over us all and we are comforted.
