CAROLYN ANN SULLIVAN (nee BERRY) Carolyn passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday evening December 26, 2004, after a lengthy struggle with kidney cancer. Carolyn was so deeply loved and will be forever missed by her husband and best friend Dan; and her children, Karly, Konnor, and Kaitlyn. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Burton and Vera Berry. Mourning her loss are her brothers, Bill and Jack Berry; and her sisters, Patricia Dittmer and Bertha Goran, their spouses; five nephews; six nieces; one great-niece; and two great-nephews. In addition, Carolyn's shining presence will be missed by Dan's mother Mildred; his sisters, Barbara, Leslie, and Anne, their respective spouses; two nieces, and four nephews. Her loss will also be deeply felt by her remaining aunts and uncles, many cousins, and friends far too numerous to name. For those family and friends who were close to Carolyn, her untimely passing has left an unfillable void, and it will be some time before the immeasurable pain we feel is replaced by the wonderful memories that we all have. Carolyn was born in Virden, MB, June 2, 1951, and was raised on a farm near Reston. She graduated from Reston Collegiate in 1969 and completed her RN at the Brandon General Hospital in 1973. Carolyn nursed for a time in Brandon and then moved to Winnipeg where she worked at the Victoria Hospital. Carolyn and Dan met in the fall of 1977 and they were married in March of 1979. She loved Dan from the bottom of her heart and absolutely adored her children. Family meant everything and she cherished her many friends. She had an incredible sense of humour and we will never forget the sound of her laughter. Carolyn truly loved life and all things pink. Carolyn spent the last two weeks of her life on the Palliative Care Floor of the St. Boniface Hospital, a truly unique place. End of life care givers are a gift from God. Those involved are angels disguised as doctors, nurses, aides, orderlies, cleaning staff, and volunteers. The dignity and respect shown and gentle care given to Carolyn by these people is something our family will never forget. You are very special. A heartfelt thank-you goes to Dr. Janice Mulder, a healing physician and the most compassionate of people. She gently took Carolyn by the hand and helped her take that final journey she so desperately did not want to make. A memorial service and celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral home, 4000 Portage Ave., at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2005. Carolyn always loved flowers and during the course of her illness there was a steady stream coming to the house from family and friends. Thank you all. However, should you now wish to remember Carolyn and honour her memory, in lieu of flowers a donation may be made to: Hospice Palliative Care Manitoba, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3.
