He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Olivia; sons, Dale and wife Cecelia, Lorne and wife Candy (Kevin and Jason) and Trevor and wife Judy (Stefanie, Toni and TJ). He is also survived by brother-in-law Roy Johnson, sister-in-law Vernette Stanley and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ervin and Eva; brothers, Austin, Iden, Andrew and Joseph; and sisters, Edith, Bertha and Evangeline. Stan was born and raised in Faust, AB and left home at the age of 16 to work in a sawmill in British Columbia. After numerous jobs, he joined the Air Force at which time he was introduced to his soul mate, Olivia. They were married in 1953 and the following year, Stan left the Air Force and joined the Winnipeg Police Department where he worked for 15 years. After trying his hand at various occupations, including an insurance salesman, he became employed with the CNR until his retirement. One of his favourite passions was the outdoors, which included camping, canoeing with his sons, and gardening. He was an avid reader of books of all topics and a listener of classical music. He adored his grandchildren and shared his enjoyment and knowledge of woodworking with them.
