ROBERT PETER WILLIAM NEULS We deeply regret the loss of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend Robert Peter William Neuls on Tuesday, January 4, 2005. Robert passed peacefully at Grace Hospital with family by his side. Robert was deeply loved and will be forever missed by his wife Olive; son Randall and daughter-in-law Monique; daughter Novella and son-in-law Tom; grandchildren, Leah, Camille and Christopher and a multitude of friends. Robert was born and educated in Winnipeg in 1922 to Ferdinand and Julia Neuls. He served in the Canadian Air Force during The Second World War and recently he proudly joined the Ghost Squadron at CFB (17 Wing) where he found friendship and camaraderie. After selling the family business (Neuls Springs) in 1961, Robert continued working as office manager and customer service until his retirement in 1986. Robert was also very active in the community, serving as Peoples' Warden at St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church and later on the Vestry or as Sidesman at other churches he and Olive attended as long as his health permitted. Outside of work, Robert enjoyed the peace and tranquility of nature, which was evident in his visits to the family cottage at Sandy Hook during his boyhood and camping trips to the Whiteshell with his friend Charlie (a future brother-in-law) as a teenager and young man. Robert pursued this love of nature throughout his life by interest in gardening. He was a voracious reader and also enjoyed stamp collecting and wine making. Robert was always generous in supporting the activities of others, whether it be the Boy Scouts, church or Olive's crafts and china painting. Robert gave the best of himself to every endeavour he took on. He sought perfection in every task. Robert lived an honourable life. His family and friends especially cherished his warm and gentle nature and his sense of humour. These words of his dear friends Audrey and Bill Norberg say it so well: Robert was always a very private person, his strength in adversity never wavered. He was trustworthy. His honesty and integrity were always above question. Robert was generous in spirit, thought and deed. He was unselfish beyond words, often sacrificing his own time and needs to help family and friends. He was not complicated. He asked very little for himself. We never heard him complain and he was gracious in his concern for his fellow man. We knew he always did his best and what was right and proper. Sincere thanks are extended to the nursing staff at Grace Hospital for their support and compassion. A service will be held in honour of Robert on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church (2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation or Grace Hospital. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
