MARTHA WILHELMINA SLATER (nee KLIMPKE) 1908 - 2005 Peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2005 our beloved sister and aunt passed away at Luther Home with family by her side at the age of 96 years. Martha leaves to remember her a sister Lanie Neetz of Abbottsford, BC; two brothers, Carl (Minnie) and John (Sophia); sisters-in-law, Grace, Elsie and Olive; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charlie; stepson Wilbur and his wife Olga; parents, Fritz and Marie; five brothers, Bill, Gerhardt, Walter, Ed and Fred; two sisters, Louise and Ann. In her early years, she was employed as a seamstress at Norris' Tailor Shop, Singer Sewing Machine and the Hudson Bay Company in the furniture department. Martha was a very generous person and volunteered many hours at her church and the L.W.M.L. She also helped out at the Lutheran Thrift Shop and Carriage House North. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends and also the recipients of all her work and caring. The family would like to thank the staff at Luther Home for all their care and compassion. A funeral service to honour Martha's memory will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 10 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward St. with Pastor Jan Pastucha officiating with viewing one hour prior to the service.
