FRED T. SMANDO With great sadness we announce the passing away of Fred T. Smando on March 22, 2005, at the age of 91 years. Fred leaves to mourn his devoted, loving wife of over 60 years, Jean; children, Marilyn and Ron; seven grandchildren, Julia, Lisa, Dan, Nicholas, Matthew, Iona and Disa. He was predeceased by his daughter Doreen (Ashisha); and several siblings. Fred was a strong willed and determined man with great courage and tenacity. His passion was watching sports. As a young hockey player, he had an opportunity to play professionally but he chose not to move to the States but to stay in Canada with his future wife. He was an amazing baseball player and was an avid fisherman. Fred also enjoyed golf and garage sales. Career wise, he was in the hotel business and later became a realtor. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
