Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS GWENDOLYN MARGARET TAYLOR (nee PERRY) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phyllis Taylor, beloved wife of the late Archie K. Taylor, on Tuesday, April 5, 2005. She passed away peacefully after a long illness, with her son Blake by her side at Misericordia Place Personal Care Home. Phyllis was born in 1920 at home on Camden Place, Winnipeg, the elder daughter of F. Blake Perry and Margaret Perry. A bright, active girl, she was very involved with dance as well as singing in school choirs and musicals. Phyllis had especially fond memories of performing in The Mikado at Gordon Bell. An outstanding student, particularly in mathematics and English, she was awarded the Isbister Scholarship. During the war, Phyllis began her business career at MacDonald Brothers Aircraft until she retired for several years to raise her family. In 1965 she returned to work, joining North American Lumber's accounts payable department where she worked for 31 years. Phyllis cherished her long associations with North American Lumber, her Thursday night bridge club, and Crescent Fort Rouge United Church. She cared about everyone she met through these endeavours. Phyllis was constantly choosing cards or gifts or baking treats for others. Tender-hearted and generous, she wished always to help anyone who needed it. Witty and willing to laugh at herself, she loved Eaton's, Laura Secord chocolates, pretty clothes, long walks and romantic movies. She was an inveterate collector of recipes, particularly desserts, and we prized her chocolate chip cake and October cookies. All her life, Mom listened to recordings of the popular songs of her youth and eagerly attended the opera and classical concerts. Devoted to each other, our mom and dad started each day with a long conversation over coffee. Our dearest mom is survived by her children, Perry (wife Jane), Blake (wife Mimi and son Sean) and Susan. She will be missed as well by niece Janet Smith (husband Ron and their children); sister-in-law Margaret Taylor; nephews, Jerry and Bob White; and niece Nancy Biggs. Many friends and relatives predeceased her, including her parents and only sister Joan White. Phyllis' memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11 at 1:30 p.m. in Crescent Fort Rouge United Church (NW corner of Wardlaw and Nassau St. N.), 525 Wardlaw Ave. The family wishes to thank the staff at Misericordia Place and her loyal volunteer, Lucy, for care of Phyllis. If friends so wish, memorial contributions may be sent to World Development and Relief, Mission and Service Fund, The United Church of Canada, Suite 300, 3250 Bloor St. W., Toronto, ON M8X 2Y4.
