SHARNA GOODMAN Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, at Edith Cavell Care Centre, Sharna Reisa Goodman beloved wife of the late Elmer C. Goodman at age 89. Sharna is survived by her daughter Marcia Taylor (Don) of Lethbridge, AB, son Bill (Ada) who resides in Israel and youngest daughter Leah of Lethbridge. Also three grandsons, Liron, Idan and Maayan of Israel. Other survivors are sister-in-law Doris Balcovske (Herb) of Lethbridge, Dr. Sam Moscovich (Claire) of Richmond, BC, sister-in-law Semila Goodman (Leon) of Lethbridge, sister-in-law Rosalind Goodman (Aaron) of Montreal and many nieces and nephews. Sharna was born in Winnipeg on February 12, 1916, the daughter of William and Leah Balcovske. Following high school, she completed a business course in Winnipeg after which, at age 21, she moved to Lethbridge. In 1945 she and Elmer married and a year later they established Mayfair Vogue Ladies Wear where Sharna used her training and talents to assist with the office work, the buying and fashion show production. Organizations such as Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women, the Beth Israel Synagogue and the Dorothy Gooder School benefited greatly from her experience and commitment. She sang for five years with the Lethbridge Symphony chorus and worked tirelessly for organizations dedicated to helping those with developmental disabilities. Sharna had a great love for the arts, literature, the theatre and scrabble and crossword puzzles gave her endless enjoyment. Travel and meeting people in different parts of the world brought joy to Sharna's life. Her home was always the centre for celebrations with family and friends who were warmly welcomed on every occasion. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, at Martin Bros. River Chapel, 610 - 4 St. S. Lethbridge, with Garry Kohn officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. Those who wish, may make memorial donations to the Lethbridge Association for Community Living, 527 - 6 St. S., Lethbridge, T1J 2E1, CNIB, 410 Stafford Dr. S., Lethbridge, T1H 2A8, or Alzheimer Society Lethbridge Area, 426 - 5th St S., Lethbridge, T1J 2B6. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Bruce Small at Martin Bros.
