TERESITA ALELAIN LABELLE Peacefully, on Friday, May 6, 2005, Teresita Alelain Labelle (nee Cordero) passed away surrounded by family and friends at St. Boniface General Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tess was born on November 29, 1936 in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, in the Philippines, the daughter of Fortunato and Felicidad Cordero. She immigrated to Canada in February of 1971 and moved to Winnipeg. She would make her residence there until her passing. Shortly after moving to Canada, she met her future husband, Ed. They fell in love and were married on June 30, 1972 and remained happily so until his passing in 1994. Tess worked as a seamstress for many years, working for many years at Mallabar Apparels, Tip Top Tailors and also working part time for MTC and Rainbow Stage. Even with such a busy schedule, she made it her priority to be the best wife and mother she could be. She loved spending time in her garden, growing flowers and fresh vegetables. She also enjoyed travelling, going on countless bus trips all around North America. Tess was also very generous. She would always take the time to help anyone in need, however she could. She was a volunteer with St Boniface Hospital for many years and had recently received an award for her long and faithful service. Tess joins in the Kingdom of Heaven her beloved husband Ed, her mother and father Felicidad and Fortunato Cordero and her brother Benjamin Cordero. She leaves to honour and cherish her memory her loving son Terred, brother Tony, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews both in the Philippines and here in Canada. Tess also leaves many friends who stood by her through good times and bad. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Edward J. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Interment will follow at St Boniface Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Family Medicine A6 at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
