REBECCA ELIZABETH BRUCE Suddenly on Wednesday June 22, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre, Rebecca Elizabeth Bruce of Winnipeg and formerly of Poplar River First Nation passed away at the age of 47 years. Rebecca was born at Poplar River on February 9, 1958, spending most of her life in Winnipeg. She enjoyed travelling and loved meeting new people. She enrolled and excelled in a computer course she had taken and worked for many various Aboriginal Organizations in Manitoba. On numerous occasions Rebecca could be seen with family and friends playing Bingo. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her husband Dennis Lerat; two sons, Sidney and Shawn (Holly); father Victor; brothers, Delbert Bruce (Doreen Fisher) and Dennis Bruce (Marilyn Franklin); sisters, Rita Swain, Deborah Favell (Charlie) and Raven Thundersky (Allen Aitken) and two granddaughters. There are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Prayers will be said on Thursday June 23 at 7:00 p.m. with wake to follow at the Aboriginal Funeral Chapel, 724 Selkirk Avenue at Parr. Funeral service will be held on Friday June 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Kateri Tekakwitha Roman Catholic Church, 794 Ellice Avenue, Winnipeg with Fr. Robert Bernardin officiating. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Andrew Maksymiuk and Cancer Care Manitoba and also Dr. Harvey Pass at Karmanos Clinic in Detroit Michigan.
