JOSEPH MARIA FIORENTINO With sadness we announce that Joseph Maria Fiorentino passed away on July 4, 2005 at the age of 94 years. He was predeceased by his mother Carolina Fiorentino; his brother-in-law Giacinto Graziano in 1966; his sister Maria Graziano in 1997 and his niece Concetta (Leopordo) Masi of Amato, Italy in 1994. Joe is survived by his nieces, Maria (Antonio - deceased) Fiorentino of Amato, Italy; Carolina (Pat) Loschiavo of Montreal; Josephine (Frank) Fiorentino of Winnipeg and nephew, Giacinto (Felicia) Graziano of Winnipeg. Joe was born in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy on December 13, 1910. He came to Canada in the 20s and worked for Canadian National Railway until 1950. At that time he moved to California and worked for the Alameda Belt Line Railway until his retirement in 1976. Uncle Joe enjoyed 30 years of retirement, spending his summers in Matlock, MB and his winters in Alameda, California into his early 90s. When he grew unable to travel, he became a resident of the Poseidon Care Centre. Uncle Joe always enjoyed the company of family and friends, hosting his annual Labour Day Barbecue in Matlock, which became a tradition for many years. A lifelong bachelor Martini Joe enjoyed travelling and made friends and acquaintances along the way. At his request, Joe will return to Amato, Italy once more for his final resting place. Special thank you to Dr. Green and the nurses on the 4th floor at Victoria Hospital for all the comfort and care they gave Uncle Joe in his final days. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.. Mass to be held in Amato, Italy at a later date.
