DAVID JAMES PASTUCK October 7, 1961 - July 9, 2005 At the St. Boniface Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, David's soul has passed unto God's care. Mourning his loss are his mother Doris and step-father Joe McAvoy; sister Marnie (Richard); step-brothers, Mark, Paul and Dave McAvoy and their families; also numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. David was predeceased by his father, Dmitro Jim in 1996. Also by several uncles, aunts and cousins. David was born and educated in Winnipeg. The last ten years before his illness, he was employed at Polycast Ind. His family and many friends will miss his engaging smile and willingness to help those who needed it. David loved music and in his youth, wrote and recorded songs with the rock bands he was associated with as a drummer, touring in western Canada. He loved baseball and the last few years, golf was his passion. A trip to Mexico this spring brought him joy as he golfed, parasailed and enjoyed the sun. We thank Dr. R. Wong and staff in Cancer Care, Dr. Laiselle and staff in Palliative Care of B5 and E5 for their compassionate care. A funeral service will be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12 at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment, and a reception. Pastor Bruce Adams officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare MB or to a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to: Glen Eden Funeral Home 4477 Main Street 338-7111 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolences at www.gleneden-mb.ca

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I was just reminiscing about my time in Winnipeg in the 1980s… Saw Antares many times at the zoo or I think the Princess maybe even night moves. He could sing the best Bon Scott… He should’ve tried out for AC/DC when Bon Scott died. Thanks for the memories and the great tunes, sorry to read this 20 years later. - Posted by: Kevin Carl (Fan) on: Nov 06, 2024

  • Sorry from my delay in responding. Dave was a good friend and bandmate. We had good times in our band Antares. Dave was a marvelous power drummer who we all admired. He could also scream out a great rock song. Dave also had a great sense of humour and great taste in music. Dave was the co-foundation of our rythym section and played for years with Steve Farrell before I joined the band. Dave and Steve were very close friends. Many times Dave kept us smiling with his fun sense of humour and always introduced us to great new music. I will never forget Dave's contribution to our music. My condolences, Scott - Posted by: Scott McBride (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2022

  • Some of the best years of my life were spent with Dave playing in the rock group "Antares". A solid, powerful drummer and an awesome singer! Dave was a down to earth guy. A great sense of humour and an awesome musician! Hope to meet up with you at that Great Gig in the Sky someday... - Posted by: Jerry Semchyshyn (Friend/Musical Colleague) on: Apr 20, 2013

  • Dave played with me in his last band. We were due to play out in December 2004 when he had a turn for the worse. Boy could he sing ACDC. It's been impossible to replace what he had to contribute, but he wanted us to continue. So Davey, when we hit the stage, Martino and I will be thinking of you pal. And hey, before you know it, we'll be playing together again somewhere, I hope. Ciao buddy. - Posted by: Paul Shefchyk (Friend) on: Jul 12, 2005
