GREGORY ROBERT FERRIER Dr. Gregory Robert Ferrier, 62, of Halifax, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Winnipeg, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen (Cox) Ferrier. Greg was a well respected and accomplished researcher and professor at Dalhousie University who made a number of significant discoveries that improved the understanding and treatment of heart disease. In addition to his passion for his internationally recognized research, he loved gardening, playing the piano, and relaxing at his cottage. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 36 years, Shirley (Blair); daughters, Suzanne (Dan Gautreau), Heather (Ben Hirtle), Melanie; son Brodie (Jennifer Passmore); granddaughters, Ashley, Kaylee and Hannah, all of Halifax. Visitation will be today from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 3 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Timothy's Anglican Church, 2320 Prospect Rd., Hatchet Lake. Burial will be in Sunrise Park Cemetery, Hatchet Lake. If friends so desire, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Special thanks to Palliative Care and the VON, especially Mamie, Ann and Jean.
