WILLIAM (BILL) EDWARD BROWNSCOMBE
Born: Apr 06, 1928
Date of Passing: Sep 07, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) EDWARD BROWNSCOMBE April 6, 1928 - September 7, 2005 It is with heavy hearts, but wonderful memories that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, best friend and soul mate, Hilary; children, Richard (Joyce), Melanie (Brian), Marina (Randy); grandchildren, Rick, Shannon, Sasha, Jeffrey, Matthew and Mia; great-grandchildren, Sydney and Renee; and his faithful pet companions, Bonnie and Minou. Raised in Fort Rouge and educated at Earl Grey and Kelvin High School. His business career encompassed positions with the Winnipeg Electric Co. and North American Lumber. He retired in 1987 from Robinson Little Co. where he was employed as Personnel and Traffic Manager for over 30 years. From 1966 to 1967, he served as Chairman of the Canadian Industrial Traffic League, Manitoba Division. Bill's lengthy retirement years allowed him and Hilary to spend time travelling, socializing and relaxing at the cottage Dad built at Victoria Beach. Hilary and Bill were so blessed to have shared 55 years together. Bill's passion for gardening not only beautified his Fort Garry homes but also the family cottage at Victoria Beach, his cherished retreat. Dad inherited his magical gardening skills from his father Cyril, and passed them on to his three children. This lifelong hobby afforded him great pleasure. He was the recipient of many prizes at both local and international flower shows, and was a past president and honorary life member of the Fort Garry Horticultural Society. He was also a member of the Wildewood Club for over 30 years, where he enjoyed the fellowship of the senior golfers in the summer months, and the curling league in the winter. For 20 years he served as the secretary to the Wildewood Seniors Curling League, a position he filled with diligence and expertise. Bill was a kind and gentle soul who was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour, an endless abundance of energy and generosity. We will miss your smiling face and twinkling blue eyes. Special thanks to Dr. Salem, the 3rd floor staff at the Victoria Hospital and most recently the compassionate and loving staff of the 3rd floor Palliative Care at the Riverview Health Centre. Your kindness and caring to him and our family was most appreciated. Bill died in peace and with dignity due to your efforts. The family would be honoured to receive those who wish to join in a celebration of Bill's life to be held on Thursday, September 15, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Wildewood Club, 761 North Dr., Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined, should friends so wish, donations in memory of Bill may be made to a charity of your choice. We love you so much, and cherish every moment we had with you, and all the wonderful memories we will keep in our hearts forever. Till We Meet Again.
