ANNA MARIA RICHL (nee SCHWARTZ) 1910 - 2005 On Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Port Dover, ON, Anna Maria Richl passed away peacefully. She was 95. Anna was predeceased by her sister Julia in 1914, father Ignac in 1922, brother Frank in 1937, mother Julianna in 1965, sister Mary in 1974 and her brother Ned in 1996. Anna lost her husband Frank in 1998 after a tragic home invasion took his life. Anna will be deeply missed by son Frank and daughter-in-law Lois in Winnipeg; son Jim and daughter-in-law Gail in Sherwood Park, AB; and daughter Terri Parkinson and son-in-law George in Port Dover, ON. Anna's eight grandchildren Paul, Patricia, Jeffrey (Laurel), Holly (Brian), Leah (Russ), Jason (Michelle), Kelly (Chris) and Steven (Chelsey) and five great-grandchildren, Hana, Lily, Jack, Conor and Reed will miss their Nana-Granny-Oma very much. Anna will also be missed by nieces, Mary (Joe) of Windsor, California and Illona (Gary) of Chilliwack, BC; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by all. Anna immigrated to Canada from Hungary in 1926 and married Frank in 1931. Throughout the years she worked with her husband in his tailor business, was employed as a furrier and also provided interpretation services for the Immigration Department, helping Hungarians immigrating to Canada. She was also a great Mom and the finest Hungarian cook and baker! Over the years she faced many personal obstacles with grace and dignity. Her family admired and learned from her strength of character and we can all honestly say that she was quite the feisty, strong, spirited and loving woman........a great legacy for a great lady. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the staff at the Luther Home in Winnipeg for their care and dedication for seven years and to Dr. Julia Beaver of Port Dover and the nurses of St. Elizabeth's Health Care, who helped take good care of Anna with such kindness and caring during her last six months. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 13 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Parish, 250 Burrin Ave., Winnipeg, R2V 1E5. Msgr. Michael Moore officiating. Reception to follow. Anna will be laid to rest in a private interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Anna may be made to the charity of your choice.
