DUSTIN MATTHEW HICKIE On Saturday, September 10, 2005, our son Dustin Matthew Hickie passed away peacefully in his sleep at 9:45 a.m. He leaves to cherish his memory his mom and dad, Denise and Tim Hickie; and sister Shayla, all of Morris; grandparents, Dave and Val Rieger of Regina and George and Mary Hickie of Melville; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. A time of tribute and viewing will be held at the Southern Manitoba Convention Centre, 380 Stampede Grounds, in Morris on Wednesday, September 14 beginning at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the St. Maurice Roman Catholic Church, 253 Main St. South in Morris on Thursday September 15 at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow in the Morris Cemetery. If friends so wish, donations may be made in Dustin's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation, Manitoba Chapter, 350 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 3J2. Dustin was a young man beyond his years; he had much wisdom within him and a magnetic spirit that was loved by all. Dustin lived by the words, Passion, Love and Faith . He said that these three words he would take with him wherever he may go because of what they represent to him. His passion for music led him to be self taught in the art of playing guitar and later went on to take professional lessons. This is when music became his Passion , he loved to spend time with his friends, surrounded by the music he loved and created. Love symbolizes the love we all shared as a family and with all our friends and everyone who touched his life. It was this love that he believed kept him strong and fighting, in turn Dustin's strength created a strong unit of love that was shared amongst all that knew him. He enjoyed spending time at Cafe 75 and forming a band with friends that enjoyed music as well. Life is not so much what each individual makes of it, but what we make of it for each other, Kristen you will never be forgotten in Dustin's heart, as you shared a special friendship with our son. Faith represented a strong belief in God. Dustin understood that God would carry him, when we as parents and loved ones could not any longer on this earth, but we carry him in our hearts forever. Psalm 91... And I will raise you up on eagles wings bear you the breath of dawn. Make you to shine like the sun...and hold you in the palm of My hand . Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near, loved, still missed and always dear. Dustin, you will always be our special angel, we are blessed to be given such a warm, wonderful son as yourself. Truly, Dad, Shayla and Mom will carry you within us forever; families are forever. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Dustin had a profound impact on my daughter Julia Rempel, his friend. For that I will be forever grateful and he will be with us forever in all kinds of ways. I met him and the family only a few times; at Health Sciences and around Morris. In that brief time, though I could tell quickly, as I told my daughter, yesterday, he was so easy to love and like. My sincere condolences. - Posted by: Bob Rempel and Willa Semotok (Friend) on: Sep 14, 2005
