Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES OGSTON March 26, 1914 - September 12, 2005 With family at his side Jim passed away September 12, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Left to cherish his memory, son Jim Jr. (Lou); daughter Judy Morier (Ed); grandchildren, Jill (Sean), Drew (Meaghan), Jennifer, Shannon, Darcie, Dale (Rita); great-grandson Dawson; sister Trudy McKay; sisters-in-law, Mary Plumton, Rose Ogston and many extended family members and friends. Jim was predeceased by his wife Isabel, brother Jock, and sister Nellie, and daughter-in-law Betty Jean Ogston. Jim was born and raised in the North End, moving to Transcona in 1959. Jim was a City of Winnipeg Police Officer for 32 years, retiring in 1971. As well as being Secretary Treasurer of the Winnipeg Police Association, he also served as Treasurer for St. John's Presbyterian Church. In his earlier years he enjoyed golfing and curling. In his later years he took great joy in defeating his family members in cribbage and darts. He was a loving, gentle husband and caring and generous father. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, he was an exceptional grandfather. He kept his mind sharp with reading, crosswords, listening to music and planning practical jokes. He had a unique sense of humour. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of River East Personal Care Home for their kindness and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave. with Rev. Kevin MacDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to St. John's Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 251 Bannerman Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 0T8.
