BLANCHE SPRONG (nee BONNALLO) Peacefully, on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the Tuxedo Villa, Blanche passed away at the age of 85 years. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband John, of 60 years of marriage; daughters, Grace Melnyk and Janet Windatt (Roger); grandchildren, Karen Desender (Greg), Bryan Melnyk, Curtis Windatt and Heather Windatt; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Gabriella; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Blanche was born in Leask, SK on December 27, 1919 and moved to Manitoba. After completing high school, she worked for Merchants Consolidated until her marriage to John. They resided in Winnipeg, Marquette and returned to Winnipeg. While in Marquette, Blanche assisted her husband in the management of the local Co-op Store and was active in the curling club. When they moved back to Winnipeg, she spent many evenings attending a community bingo. Blanche also enjoyed bowling and one of her most prized trophies was for a game of 402. John and Blanche also became active members of the Whirlaway Westerners Square Dance group. A private family graveside service has taken place in Brookside Cemetery. Blanche's funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m. in Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor Ave. with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Blanche's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to a charity of one's choice. Special thanks to the staff of Station One at Tuxedo Villa for the care and compassion they showered upon Blanche during her last months.   • I am was saddened to hear of the death of your Mother, Grace. I remember having lunch with the two of you on one of my birthdays. She was a very nice lady full of fun. I also remember the knee warmers she knitted for me. My thoughts are with you and your family during this time.
