ANNE JEAN BEACH (nee LOYER) Ozawazkaa Pinashe Ikwe Blue Thunderbird Woman August 25, 1928 - September 13, 2005 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and best friend at the Grace Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn and cherish her memory are her children, Brian (Joyce), Donna (Elvis), Caroline, Debbie (Albert), Chris (Agnes), Bobby (Rose), Ingrid (James), Bradley (Audrey), Elaine (Louis) and Marsha (Cory); sisters, Louise Monkman, and Mary Monkman; brother Albert Loyer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne was predeceased by her parents, Isadore (1946) and Margaret (1989) Loyer; children, Dennis and Sally (1981); and her beloved husband Christopher (1995). Anne was born in Macross, MB and lived in Vogar, MB until 1966. She then moved to Winnipeg, along with her husband and children, where she resided until her passing. After mom successfully raised 11 children she went back to school at New Careers during the 1970s and obtained a certificate as an Addictions Counsellor. Native Alcoholism Council of Manitoba employed her for several years working out of Pritchard House. Mom discovered and embraced her identity as an Aboriginal woman while working at NACM. She made many friends and participated in many cultural teachings and ceremonies. This path allowed her to overcome her many struggles in life. Mom passed on many of these teachings to her children. Mom also raised and took care of many of her grandchildren who loved her very much. Mom enjoyed attending the Aboriginal Gospel Coffee House and the Metis Club. She loved to read novels and was a loyal listener of the Metis hour every Saturday morning on NCI 105.5 fm. She also loved to tell jokes and go to bingo. A wake and prayers will be held on Friday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m., Kateri Parish. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17 at Kateri Parish, 794 Ellice with Fr. Dominique Kerbratt officiating. Additional viewing and interment will be at the Vogar Cemetery in Vogar, MB followed by refreshments at the Vogar Community Hall. Pallbearers will be Derek Beach, David Beach, Richard Delaronde, Wilson Neapew Jr., Jade Monkman, and Jeffery Murdock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Warren, Dana, Christopher, Adam, Fletcher, Nicolas, J.J., Chris, and Michelle Beach, Marvin Delaronde Jr., Jessie Murdock, Tyson Bercier, Tyler Neapew and Tamra Mayham. The family would like to thank Neil Hall and his helpers at the Thunderbird House, Palliative Care staff at St. Boniface Hospital, her friends, Adria Burkert, Mad Mike Dow, Melba Kline and Stan Cook. Good-bye for now mom until we meet again. You will always be in our hearts. Picture me walking in heaven on a road of silver and gold. Picture me walking with Jesus. Picture me in the arms of the Lord. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
