Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I came to know Doug because of his interest in genealogy. Not only did he research the Tesch family tree, but also those of a number of intersecting branches, including the Vockeroth’s. He came to visit us once at our home in Burnaby, BC. At the time, us consisted of myself, my wife, Donna Doerksen, our two children, Murphy and Zoe, and my parents, Bob and Erie Vockeroth. Doug was a gentle and kind man who was passionately interested in researching both his and other related family histories. Our earlier family members came alive as he recounted stories of the challenges and joys they experienced during their lives. He left us a copy of the research he had done, complete with text, family trees, photos, and kept in touch to update new family additions and departures. We are grateful for his time and kind tenacity and his gift of our family history that would be difficult if not impossible to recreate today. My father, Bob or Robert Ernest Vockeroth passed away on September 21st, 2014, several months after suffering a head injury as a result of a fall, while walking home from a nearby Seniors Centre. My mother, Erie Jacqueline Vockeroth, nee Holmes, passed away on December 7th, 2020, at the Sunrise Care Home in Victoria, BC. It was her passing that prompted me to try to reconnect with Doug, and then find his obituary. I am sorry for your loss, but know that having had Doug as a family member must have left you, his friends and family with a wealth of happy and interesting memories. - Posted by: Glenn Vockeroth (Distant relative and my father may have known Doug as he worked as a Meteorologist for many years. ) on: Jan 01, 2021
