SYLVIA MARIE GOURLEY (nee COLE) 1933 - 2005 Sylvia Marie Gourley, beloved wife of John for 47 years, and dear mother of Deby Funk (Rick), Gaye Gourley-Vrbanic, and Sue Ann Gourley, all of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, September 9, 2005. She lost the battle, to the infection, that she has been fighting for the last two years. Sylvia also leaves to cherish her memory, six grandchildren, Maria, Samantha, and Katherine Funk, Anthony, Meagan, and Mitchell Vrbanic. She also leaves her loving older brother, Arthur Cole (Wilma) of 108 Mile House, BC, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sylvia was born, December 21, 1933 and lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She also spent a few years living on a farm, just outside of Dauphin, MB. In the summer of 1958, John and Sylvia were married and started building a cabin on Deception Lake, in Ontario. This led to many wonderful memories for herself, for her family, and for many friends. In keeping with Sylvia's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Avenue (entrance on Aubrey Street). Sylvia's final resting place will be at the lake, where she can keep an eye on the fisherman, watch her loons, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff (GA4) at the Health Sciences Centre that took care of Mom for the last year and a half. Mom, we are going to miss you; but what keeps us going is knowing you are with us, where ever we go, we love you! Love; Deb, Gaye, Sue Ann and John. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
