MARLENE LOUISE THIESSEN (nee NEUSTAEDTER) Marlene passed away peacefully with her family around her at Concordia Hospital on September 14, 2005. She was born on December 31, 1944. Marlene was a wonderful person who was always ready to help anyone in need. She was a very special woman, loved and cherished by her family and every one she met. She was a strong advocate for persons with special needs and spent her life thinking of and helping others. Her two sons, Martin and Russell, were the love of her life. They were a real consolation to her over the last several years as she struggled with MS and other illnesses. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Thiessen, whom she cared for at home during his long illness. Theirs was a very happy marriage and relationship. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Martin and Russell; her mother Louise Neustaedter; her sister Joanne Neustaedter; her mother and father-in-law, Tina and Phil Thiessen; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Dianne Thiessen, Lorna and Dick Giesbrecht and Eileen and Gus Brewer; and her nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and close friends. She was predeceased by her father Paul Neustaedter, and her brother-in-law Harry Thiessen. She and her family are very thankful to the many special caregivers of Home Care and for the love and care they received at Holy Family Nursing Home and Concordia Hospital in her last two days. A very special thank you to her very close and dear friends Anita and Jake for their loving care and friendship. The celebration of Marlene's life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at River East Mennonite Brethren Church, 755 McLeod Ave. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Holy Family Nursing Home or L'Arche Winnipeg Inc.
