Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH CAVELL BOALER (nee McBEAN) 1916 - 2005 Edith Cavell Boaler (nee McBean), peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the age of 89 years, with her family by her side. Edith was born on February 8, 1916 on the family farm in Carey, MB. She was the last survivor of 14 children of the McBean family, who were Scottish pioneers. At the tender age of 14, Edith would get up at 3:00 a.m. to help her mother prepare breakfast for threshing crews of 14 men. Edith was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many. She attended Business College in Winnipeg, MB and used her skills in a position at an Eaton's store. As a young woman, Edith enjoyed sports and belonged to a women's baseball league. She was active in politics and even in her last days, kept abreast of current affairs. Edith married Colin Boaler on November 14, 1953 in Winnipeg, and together they raised four children on a farm in St. Pierre, MB. Edith worked side by side with Colin, the love of her life. Edith is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Colin Boaler of Calgary, AB; her children, Gordon May of St. Pierre, MB, Geraldine Epp (Henry) of Kelowna, BC, Jacqueline Flanders, and Ronald (Rose-Marie) Boaler, all of Calgary; ten grandchildren, Bonnie Tone, Colin Epp, Cameron Epp, Sherrie (Guy) Kirouac, Janice May, Shawna Gosselin, Peggy (Dennis) Leduc, Pam Heger (Jeremy Hamilton), Alan (Jennifer) Flanders, and Amy Flanders; seven great-grandchildren, Kylie Kranabetter, Joshua Kranabetter, Christian Tone, Mathew Kirouac, Marc Kirouac, Chantal Kirouac, and Samantha Kirouac; brother-in-law Alan Boaler of Carey, MB; sister-in-law Trudy Boaler of Calgary; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by her parents, John McBean and Violet McBean (nee Jack); 13 brothers and sisters; her granddaughter Tammy May, and many relatives of the Boaler family. A memorial service was held in Calgary on September 1, 2005.
