Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY FREDA VEZINA July 31, 1919 - September 10, 2005 It is with heavy hearts, but wonderful memories, that we share with all, the passing of Dorothy Freda Vezina, youngest daughter of the late Annie E. and Frederick E. Dampier. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond, a sister Evelyn, a brother William, niece Roberta, and nephews Robert and Duke. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory, her brother Gordon of Scottsdale, Arizona, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews and their families, cousins in England, and her beloved dog, Buffie, and her parrot Uba. Dorothy was a court reporter for 28 years and was active in sports and associations, receiving many achievement awards. She served as a Brown Owl and Guide Captain in the Canadian Girl Guides Association for many years, and later enjoyed having a Brownie Pack and Guide Company at the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. She became a member of St. John Ambulance Brigade at an early age and served in many facets, becoming Provincial Superintendent before retiring. She enjoyed V.A.D. nursing in hospitals during the war years in her spare time. She received the honour of Office Sister of St. John, presented to her by the Governor General in Ottawa. Dorothy was an expert marksman in rifle shooting and archery, and also enjoyed golfing and tennis during her lifetime. She was a past Noble Grand in Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge No. 2, and a Past Queen in Daughters of the Nile, Spring Temple, No. 116. Dorothy was a lifetime member of Crescent Fort Rouge United Church. In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment has taken place. Dorothy was an inspiration to all. Dorothy's loving and generous spirit blessed all who were acquainted with this exceptional, Spirit filled lady. God was always first in her life. She will be sadly missed.
