ROBERT (BOB) ALEXANDER COCHRANE Peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 15, 2005; Bob died at age of 72 years. Remaining to cherish Bob's memory are his daughters, Sheila Cochrane and Rena Corbett (Brian); grandchildren, Kevin of Winnipeg, Caitlin and Keith of Deep River, ON; brothers, John (Laureen), Ernie (Sylvia) of Winnipeg and Harvey (Charla) of Calgary and their families; sister-in-laws, Betty of Toronto and Margaret (Howie) of Winnipeg and their families as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving wife Norma after 44 years of marriage in 1996 and by his brother Jim in 1986. Bob was born in Eston, SK and later moved to Winnipeg. He spent most of his working life with the C.N.R. beginning as a Carman and then joining their Police Department. He also spent several years teaching courses such as driver training, safety, and security. Bob was involved with many groups such as the Kidney Foundation and his church. He had several close friends from neighbours, church, golf, curling, and card playing. He had one special close friend Jack Holben (Janet) of Winnipeg who gave him his first babysitting job. On Monday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m., Bob's funeral service will be held in the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. (at the corner of Roblin Boulevard and Dieppe Road), with Rev. Michael Wilson officiating. Internment will follow in Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Ave. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to Bob's service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 730 Taylor Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 2K8, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L OK6 or a charity of one's choice.
