Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILMA CAROLYN WEEKES 1949 - 2005 Peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 14, 2005 with her family at her side, Wilma departed from this world. Left to cherish her memory are her sister Annette (Oliver); brothers, Vinford (Carlita), Alexis and Hensley; nieces, Mandy, Lynmarie, Mereeze, Camille and Natasha; nephews, Adrian, Clifford, Oliver, Dale and Terrance and her loyal friends, Maria Marcelline and Hilda Shaw. Wilma was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Dolrist Weekes. Wilma was born in St. Vincent on February 28, 1949. She immigrated to Winnipeg, MB Canada in 1971. Wilma was employed by the Manitoba Government for 32 years. She was actively involved in the Caribbean and the wider community. Wilma was president of the Council of Caribean Organizations of Manitoba, president of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Manitoba, secretary of Caripeg Carnival Committee, secretary of Folklarama - Caribbean Pavilion Management Committee. Wilma also served on the Manitoba Intercultural Council, the National Council of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Associations of Canada and a strong supporter of the Afro-Caribbean Association of Manitoba, the Congress of Black Women of Canada and the Black History Month Committee. Despite her commitment to Black and Caribbean Communities Wilma still found time for her church activities including singing in the choir. Her family would like to thank Dr. Forrester and all the staff on 5E Medicine at St. Boniface Hospital. A special thank you to Rose Balingit, Emma Concepcion-Depadua, the Pilgrim Baptist Church and all those friends who have visited and supported Wilma during her illness. There will be a viewing at Knysh Funeral Chapel at 1020 Main St., on Tuesday, September 20 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Pilgrim Baptist Church on 41 Maple St., at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21.
