EILEEN KANE Eileen Kane died peacefully September 17, 2005 with her family at her side in Westbank, BC. She will be deeply missed by her husband Alan of 59 years; sons, Roger (Kerry) of Winnipeg, Brian (Cheryl) of Calgary; and daughter Daphne Chalmers (Bill) of Calgary; five grandsons residing in Calgary, Dr. Brad Kane (Nicole), Tim Kane (Penny), their daughters Taylor and Brooklyn, Todd Kane, Brodie and Blake Chalmers and two in Winnipeg, Brandon and Morgan Kane; her sister Marjorie Hobbs (Bill) of Abbotsford; sisters-in-law, Dorothy White of Halifax, NS, Barb Feldmann (Gord) of Winnipeg, MB. Eileen was born April 26, 1923 in Georgetown, PEI and she met Al in Charlottetown, PEI, where he was stationed during the war. They married December 22, 1945 and moved to Winnipeg then Calgary in 1957. They retired to the Okanagan Valley in 1983. Eileen's sole focus in life was what she shared with Al. Her family above all else, but the hundreds of relationships they had over the years, were what defined her. The last 22 years where they spent summers in the Okanagan and winters in Arizona were the happiest time for her. She loved telling and hearing jokes, hostessing gatherings that many times involved beef on a bun. She was at her best helping a friend in time of need. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 21 at 2:00 pm at Sun Village Community Complex, Westbank, BC with Rev. Joe Price officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society: 1633 Pandosy St., Kelowna, BC, V1Y 1P6 or the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society: #3 - 1000 Notre Dame Ave, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0N3. The family want to thank Dr. Mark Corbett, Dr. David Fenton for their kind and compassionate care, the many friends that helped out during Eileen's illness, the Palliative Team for the west side, and the nurses of the Douglas Fir Palliative Care unit for their compassionate care of Mom and our family. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by: SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME LTD. 250-860-7077
