ELIZABETH (BETTY) ROGERS (nee ORR) May 27, 1923 - September 16, 2005 Peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 16, 2005, Betty passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 82. Betty was predeceased by her first husband Robert Orr of Belfast in 1980; two brothers Eddie and Jackie; and sister Violet. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband Reuben; children Margaret (Jackie) Swann, Bobby Orr, and Edna McPhee (Tom); grandchildren Gary, Jacqueline (Sean), Shannon (Jeff), Jamie, Liz (Johann), and Nichola; great grandchildren Taylor, Karleigh, Spencer, Halle, and Connor. Betty will also be missed by her sisters in Ireland, Hazel and May. She will also be fondly remembered by her step-daughters Roberta (Wilf) Younger with Chris, and Wendy (Gord) Walters with Grant and Andrew. Betty will be remembered by many friends, and extended family in Belfast and here in Canada. Betty was born in Belfast, Ireland and lived there until she immigrated to Canada in 1980. She served with the R.A.F. during the Second World War, during which time she met her first husband Bobby. After coming to Canada, Betty worked with the Winnipeg School Division No. 1. Betty was a proud member of the Fort Rouge Legion where she met Reuben. They were married on December 10, 1988. She loved dancing, traveling, and family get-togethers. Betty was kind and loving, and always put her family first. The family would like to thank the congregation at the Christian Fellowship Chapel, and her friends at 360 Osborne for their friendship and support during Betty's illness. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Fellowship Chapel, 465 Osborne, with a reception to follow in the church hall.
