ANNA (AMY) KORYLUK (nee ANNA JANUSZEWSKI) Amy was born in St. Jean d'Iberville, Quebec where she was orphaned at an early age along with her three sisters and two brothers who are all deceased. Having been raised by her paternal uncle and his wife, she was later married in Montreal to Michael Koryluk Sr. who died in 1967. Soon after marriage they moved to Winnipeg and settled in the area close to the only French Canadian Parish in the Archdiocese of Winnipeg, Paroisse du Sacre-Coeur. During her lifetime she was involved in several parish organizations at Sacre-Coeur as well as at Holy Rosary Church where she had also made numerous friends. Amy worked hard all her life and cared with much love for her son Michael Jr. and his dad who had been sick for many years prior to his death. She worked at Canadian Publishers and the Society for Crippled Children and Adults on Sherbrook Street until she retired at the age of 70. For 20 years, she resided at Villa Cabrini on River Avenue. Her last place of residence was the Misericordia Health Centre. I would like to thank all of our friends and parishioners from the parishes that her son, Fr. Michael served in Winnipeg, and who were so kind and welcoming to her. A special thank you to her homecare worker Marnie, and to the doctors, nurses and health care workers at St. Boniface Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre and the Grace General Hospital where Amy died on Sunday morning, September 18, 2005. She was a woman of faith and love who had a special devotion to Mary the mother of Jesus. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary's Ave., on Friday, September 23 beginning with the recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. with her son, Fr. Michael Koryluk, as the principal celebrant. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. John Brebeuf parish school bursary fund. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7) NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I often think of Anna around the holidays. I remember being her "date" for Christmas Eve mass at St. Marks. As I sat with her while her son Michael celebrated the mass, I was taken back by just how much love she has for her son. As I was an angsty teen in those days, my own relationship with my mother was very trying at times. Anna was/is the definition of unconditional love. I am a parent now, my relationship with my family is amazing. I like to think I look at my son the way Anna looked at hers that Christmas Eve, and everyday. God bless Anna. God bless you as well my old friend. - Posted by: Chad () on: Dec 18, 2014
