Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH LISCHYNSKI Joe peacefully passed away on September 20, 2005, in his home at the Priory in Victoria with his beloved wife Vera and family including sister-in-law Norma at his side. Joe will be forever missed by his wife Vera; his daughters, Shirley and Bruce Wahl, Deb and Fred Bircham, Bev and Richard Lafrance; and son Joe and Bernie Lischynski; and 11 grandchildren, Jamie, Brett, Kelly, Brooke, Mike, Jenny, Michael, Christopher, Brittany, Maegan and Andy. Joe loved all of his grandchildren dearly and was truly gifted at comforting them, especially when they were babies. Joe was born in Trentham, MB on March 19, 1926. He was a hard worker who raised his family in Winnipeg while employed at CNR for 39 years. His favourite pastimes included fishing, hunting, gardening, baseball, curling and playing music with his brothers. Joe will be missed by his sisters, Emily, Helen, Minnie, Eva and Rosie; and in-laws, Norma, Anne, Joe, Bill, Ben, Margaret and Irene. He will be greeted in heaven by his mother Mary; father Michael; daughter Peggy; sister Pauline; and brothers, William, Jack and Ed; and in-laws, Sophie, John, Taras, Ray, Leo, Nick, Irma and Paul. Joe and Vera thoroughly enjoyed their early retirement in Kelowna, where they were welcomed by Deb, Fred, Ed, Norma, Karen, Randy, Carissa, Barb, Calvin and Tyler and met many new friends. Their later years were spent in Victoria where they loved to entertain family and friends who visited. Even though Joe is gone, his spirit lives on in all of our hearts. We do not lose the ones we love, They only go before, Where there is everlasting life, Where sorrow is no more. And there the soul will always live, And peace is everywhere, We do not lose the ones we love, God keeps them in His care. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at the Priory, 567 Goldstream Ave. in Victoria at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Priory and Dr. Lintern for their support and compassionate care. Joe loved to make them laugh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Priory or The Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. A service will also be held in Winnipeg on October 15 (for details call Shirley 204-757-2299).
