IRENE LILIAN HARTNELL 1916 - 2005 After a long and difficult struggle with Alzheimer's Disease mom died peacefully on September 20, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre. Mom was predeceased by her parents, George and Henrietta Clarke; her sister Muriel Todd; and her beloved husband William (Bill) Hartnell. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Roberta Linnett, sister Olive (Jim) Axtell, Regina, her beloved niece Susane (Brian) Haacke, Adam and Matthew, Regina, nephew Rick, Axtell, Sean, Chris and Jennifer, Edmonton. Her special friends, Jean Marie and David Auld who were always there for her. Mom was born August 2, 1916 in Regina. She had a happy childhood; graduating from business school she entered the work force. Thus began her love affair with the Canadian Pacific Railway first in Regina with the Express and later with C.P. Transport. Nothing pleased her more than to be around trains and trucks. Upon her marriage to Bill they moved to Winnipeg. These were to be her happiest years. Trips to Texas and Florida in the camper made her blue eyes sparkle, at Bill's death in 1974 with her typical spirit she continued to be a moving force. Her main focus throughout her life was her daughter. As a single parent, Mom taught me independence and spirit and she gave me her stubbornness. Mom stressed education and was always part of any of my accomplishments, she believed everyone should have a dream to work towards and we shared many together. Her love of laughter and family will be sadly missed. Irene was a member of the Woman's Committee of the W.S.O., a group she enjoyed working with. A special thanks go to the staff of 3C Riverview Health Centre who were so kind and caring and especially those who made her laugh. Rest in Peace dear Mom, til' we meet again. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3 or the Alzheimer Society of Winnipeg, Unit 10, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. To Those I Loved and Those who Loved Me When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears; Be happy that we had these precious years. I gave to you my love, you can only guess, How much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I travelled on alone. So grieve a while for me if grieve you must; Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on; So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near, And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say Welcome Home. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
