RUDY LAMBERT TOEWS As quietly as he entered this world, so he left it. Rudy passed away in his sleep on Friday, September 16, 2005 at the age of 47 years. Predeceased by his mother, Aganetha (Nettie) Hildebrand from Rose Farm, he will be loved and missed by his father Peter of Winnipeg (originally from Lowe Farm); his brothers, Richard and Jerry (British Columbia) and his sisters, Sheila Keighan (Calgary) and Ev Strong (Winnipeg). Rudy was like an oak tree, strong and steady, quietly going about his business as he helped many, many people build their lives. He touched many, some family, some friends and many, many strangers. He was always there with a helping hand whenever he was asked. He was kind and sincere, without need for recognition for his benevolence. Among his effects were dozens and dozens of receipts for charitable donations, as well as stacks of letters from the people he had helped. All done quietly and without fanfare. A long-time employee of TD Bank and recently with their data centre, Symcor, Rudy was able to earn a living doing what he loved best - working with computers. They were his passion - running a close second to lottery tickets and food of any sort. He always appreciated a meal he didn't have to cook himself. He loved 10-pin bowling, playing cards, crokinole, country music, technology, the stock market, walking, vinyl records, solitude, family gatherings, chocolate, cheesecake and anything leftover at the end of a meal. He also had a particular fondness for vodka slushies. But most of all, he loved helping people. He always planned his vacation time so that his colleagues could be with their families at Christmas and other special occasions. Throughout his life, Rudy was always to be counted on. He was our connecting link between family members and he will be sorely missed. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rudy's memory to your favourite charity. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My deepest condolences to Rudy's family. I worked with Rudy at TD from 1980-1990 - he trained me in the computer room - his 'domain' - he loved his job and enjoyed helping people. I received an email from him just last Christmas, and even though I've been in Calgary for 15 years, he never forgot about keeping in touch. You will be missed, Rudy... - Posted by: Lori Losowy (nee Lynes) (Co-Worker) on: Sep 24, 2005

  • I am very sad not to hear anymore of Rudy's friendly greetings as I pass by his Capture-Sorter Machine at work .I will also miss his brief enlightening remarks and funny gestures when he handed my last BMO task every night. Rudy and his open friendship to each and everyone with no boundary, no condition at all will always be missed by us. PLEASE ACCEPT MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY for his early passing. - Posted by: Marina L.
