RODERICK MACMULLEN On September 21, 2005, our beloved father and grandfather, Roderick MacMullen, peacefully passed away at his residence at Deer Lodge Centre. Rod was born March 21, 1913 in Sydney Mines, NS. He is survived by his son Wayne of Winnipeg; daughter Valerie (Greg Askin) of Portage La Prairie; grandson Douglas of Brandon; and sister Kay of Baddeck, NS. Rod was predeceased by his wife Dora (1984), father James, mother Hattie and six siblings. Rod served his country in the Second World War and was Honourably discharged at the end of the war. After the war, Rod's employment as a heavy equipment mechanic took him to many exotic locations around the globe. Throughout his life, Dad enjoyed sporting activities, which included swimming, diving, billiards, horseshoes and golf, which he pursued well into his 80s. We would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Tower 5 and 3 East at Deer Lodge Centre for the kindness, compassion and caring they showed to both Dad and our family. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Dad's memory to the Deer Lodge Foundation, 2109 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 27 at 3:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St., with Rev. Dave Maynard officiating. Private interment to be held at a later date. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
